Taiwan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been widely analyzed, especially due to its swift actions to curb the spread of the virus despite close proximity to and deepening tensions with China. In examining this topic, it is often helpful to look back at Taiwan’s history, including it’s response to the 2003 SARS epidemic, relations with China, and positioning in wider international organizations and affairs.
