Program Description: DC Internationals’ mission is to foster enriched understanding of foreign cultures, perspectives and experiences through foreign language courses with its Middle East South Asia Language Institute (MESALI), career lectures, music, and dance performances. FALCON Program, Cornell University
Location: Ithaca, New York
Program Description: The full-year Asian language concentration program is a rigorous yet flexible program of intensive, uninterrupted study leading to rapid acquisition of Chinese or Japanese language competency. This unique accelerated program offers the longest period of concentrated instruction from the beginning level available anywhere. FALCON students study Japanese or Chinese full time, five days a week, for up to a full year.
- Summer: Beginning Mandarin Chinese and Japanese (an intermediate level may also be offered), runs June- August, 8 credits
- Fall and Spring: Continuing Mandarin Chinese and Japanese, Fall semester runs August- December, 16 credits, Spring from January to May, 16 credits

Language Schools, Middlebury College
Location: Middlebury, Vermont
Program Description: Students in Middlebury’s summer Language Schools use their target language exclusively in classes, dining halls, dormitories, and co-curricular activities. Most students gain a year or more of college-level language learning in one intensive summer session.

Requirements: In order to attend any of the Language Schools programs, you must be a high school graduate. In addition, because of the rigor of the programs, they strongly recommend that you have completed one year of college-level study. The Graduate Record Examination is NOT required for admission.
South Asia Summer Language Institute, The University of Wisconsin – Madison
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Program Description: An eight-week summer session, intensive language study. Requires two semesters of study. Elementary, intermediate, and advanced courses of study are offered.
Languages Offered: Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sinhala, Telugu, Tibetan, Tamil, and Urdu. No previous language study is required.

Summer Language Institute, The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, The Johns Hopkins University
Location: Washington, DC
Program Description: The Summer Language Institute provides intensive language courses emphasizing political, economic, and international topics. The program runs from June to July. Most courses take place in the evening, three to four days a week. Multiple language level courses are offered for each language.

Requirements: Applicants for all Summer Programs should have at least a “B” average. Applicants for the Summer Language Institute must have completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate studies prior to the start of SAIS Summer Programs. All SAIS courses are conducted at the graduate level and participants are expected to perform at this level.
